Run Well

Hello my lovelies,

I want to share with you something that has really been on my heart lately.

Life is a race we all run and most of us would say we want to run that race well. So the question is how do you do it? How do you run well?

You may look at where you are now in the race of life and be happy, or possibly not so happy.

Honestly, there have been times in my life where I’ve been so focused on what God has placed in my heart and there have been times where I have been distracted. Usually those distractions are small, like being too busy with the kid’s activities or prioritizing things like fitness and social life over what I know God has placed in my heart to do. For you it maybe similar distractions, or worldly things, or even sin that tries to hinder your race.

I can imagine you know what I am talking about. As humans it is easy to become entangled with the affairs of life. There’s a lot going on around us. Our attention can be pulled in a million ways! So I want to share with you what always leads my heart back to focus, peace and productivity.

There is no greater excitement and joy then living a life of purpose, on purpose! That’s really living, that’s waking up every day with your heart full and your mind focused on the call.

Heb 12:1 says this- Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

So here it is plain and simple.

We set aside what hinders us! You need to step back and evaluate your life. Write down exactly what it is you feel God has spoke to you and set that in front of you. Then look at everything else in your life and ask God to help you put it in order.

You also need to evaluate other hindrances… Are you staring at social media to long, fashion magazines or other worldly things that can choke and steal your focus?

Your mind and heart only have so much ability to focus on things. If you’re running around for your kids school events, working all day and then scrolling social media, chances are you’re missing some vital time that Jesus would love to be spending with you. This is critical because it is in that time our priorities are set in order.

We live in a day and age where so many things are screaming for our attention. We have to be deliberate about what we give ourselves to. If not, our race looks like we made a hundred unneeded detours all over the map of life!

Look, Jesus walked this Earth and He understands what it’s like. He knows that things pull at us. He knows the challenges. That’s why His love and grace are extended to us in this life, because we need it!

I know I need it. I really can’t and don’t want to go a day without clinging to the grace of God. His grace is my strength and power for the race of life!

So if this word speaks to you and you can relate and say “Rachel that’s me. I’ve allowed distractions or worldly things to ensnare me.” Then know this, God’s love and grace are super abounding to you! There is NO need to feel bad! Just begin to take steps in the right direction.

Look at Heb 12:2 again…For the joy set before Jesus He endured the cross. What joy was set before Him????? YOU, you were the joy. Jesus doesn’t want to punish you or scold you. He wants you to see TRUTH and walk in it.

This is the hope that always fixes my focus when I need it. This is how we run the race. This is how we lay aside what snares us. This is how you and I can run free, and run the race God has set before us.

So I hope you are ready to set your heart on fire with excitement for what God has for you. I pray you grow in the abounding love and grace of our savior Jesus and I pray you run your race with endurance strength and precision.

And by the way, have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We will be eating Indian food here in Kenya. I did not have the desire to try to cook a traditional Turkey day meal; it is just too much work here! Lol. What’s your favorite thing you will be eating tomorrow, I am curious to know??? You can leave me comment by clicking below. I’ll be missing my mom’s stuffing and green bean casserole and my mother in loves turkey and pumpkin and pecan pie! So eat a little extra for me…If you have any room!

Love from Africa, Rachel G xoxo
